The Hotel also has many packages that include round trip transportation from and to San Jose or to Sierpe o Drake Bay., incase you rented a car. The packages also include all meals, taxes and lodging. Also a Tour to Corcovado National Park is included as well as a Tour to Cano Island, Costa Rica`s hot spot for scuba diving and snorkeling and a misterious place where ancient stone spheres are found. Also, once at the hotel, there are other actvities that might be included, such as Kayaking and Dolphin observation Tour.

Dolphin Tour! Seeing and Swimming with Dolphins

Guest at Drake Bay Wilderness Resort can now enjoy a new tour -- Interact with Dolphins. Your experience boat captain will take you out into the Pacific near Cano Island to crystal blue waters. You can see and swim with dolphins with the leadership of the resident marine biologist. This same trip was recently filmed by the camera crew from National Geographic Magazine, and the Quest boat crew for the Discovery Channel. The wild dolphins are never baited or chased. These warm ocean waters are teaming with sea life. Orcas, pilot humpback and other whales are sighted almost daily. Dive Descriptions: (Drake Bay & Isla Del Cano)
THE CAVE OF THE SHARKS: Depth 40 TO 50 ft. AV. VISIBILITY 50 ft.
This area consists of a series of intricate rock and coral formations that contain many caves. The site takes its name from a large cave of considerable depth that is home to many white tip reef sharks, some of which are up to 11 ft. long. Other inhabitants include angles, butterfly damsels and parrot fish. Moorish idols, puffers, sturgeons fish, and occasional mantas and stingrays also frequent this site.

THE ARC: Depth 40 TO 50 ft. AV. VISIBILITY 50 ft.
Unique rock formations formed in the shape of arches allow divers to pass through them at this interesting site. Due to its close proximity to the Cave of the Sharks (approx. 1 km), this site has similar characteristics in its marine fauna. Flounders and lobsters are found in these rocks also.

BAJO DEL DIABLO (DEVIL'S ROCK): Depth 100+ ft. AV.
VISIBILITY 60 ft.
Without a doubt, 'this is the best site in the area and possibly one of the best in the country.' It permits us to perform dives of great beauty and quality. With submerged mountains and valley formations, an astonishing number of species are found here. Groupers, snappers and amber jacks, barracudas, mobula rays, cubera snappers (40 lbs.), Occasional bull sharks and many white tip sharks. During the summer months (Feb., March & April) manta rays come visit this dive site. Morays, puffers and morish idol complete this highly biological intense place. This site will be a place that any recreational diver would love to come back to again.

CORAL GARDENS: Depth 20 TO 50 ft. AV. VISIBILITY 80 ft.
This is an ideal site to practice routine procedures or initiate into the world of diving. With coral formations, tranquil waters and a great variety of reef fish, this site is excellent for the novice diver.

DEPTH TWO DEPTH: Depth 70 ft. AV. VISIBILITY 60 ft.
Located approximately 2 miles from Isla del Cano, 'this site is a rocky formation located in the open seas'. The diving here is unpredictable and an advanced site. Large schools of big groupers, snappers, tunaand rooster fish can be found here as well as a number of smaller species mentioned earlier.

TWENTY MINUTE ROCK: Depth 40 TO 50 ft. AV. VISIBILITY 50 ft.
This site is an interesting mix of coral and volcanic rock. Also in its marine fauna we find a great quantity and variety of tropical reef fish as well as other moving species like tuna, rooster fish, amber jacks and others. This site is also ideal nocturnal diving, being able to observe lobsters and octopus in fairly acceptable numbers.

Sport Fishing

OFFSHORE FISHING: (all equipment furnished)
You and your fishing partner enjoy your own boat with a guide/boat captain(Min. 2 people/ Max. 4 people per boat). Trolling is excellent north of Cano Island where bill fish, dorado and large tuna are brought to the boat. An exciting day or ½ day of fishing at a reasonable price.

NIGHT FISHING: (all equipment furnished)
Enjoy the beautiful view of a star filled sky, the cool evening breezes, and test your fishing skills with rod and reel or the native, traditional way with a hand line. Exciting catches of large red snappers and groupers are normal in Drake Bay. Click here for prices.
